Documentation / Appearance tour
Appearance tour
The Appearance section of the portal controls how your page looks and feels. This tour goes through it in the same order as the portal. Options marked Pro are greyed out on free pages.
Layout, colour and background
Layout
There are three layouts, and every one is free:
- Clean card: a minimal card with your photo, name and a tidy list of links.
- Bold card: a bold card with a bordered profile block and badges.
- Stage card: your profile and socials in the centre, with your custom-button sections in cards either side.
Switching layouts keeps all your other settings.
Accent colour
Your page's theme colour, used across the whole page. Free pages pick from 5 presets. Pro pages can use any colour.
Page background
- Image or video: a link to a .png or .jpg image, or an .mp4 video on Pro. Leave it blank to use the layout's own background. Images, video & music explains how to host it.
- Fill colour: a solid colour, shown when there's no image or video.
- Background effect: an animated layer such as snow, rain, stars or bubbles. 6 are free, including the seasonal Halloween pumpkins and Easter eggs, and Pro adds 11 more, such as galaxy, aurora, fireworks and confetti.
Buttons and profile box
Link buttons
- Style: rounded, pill, sharp, outline, soft shadow and more.
- Opacity: how see-through the buttons are.
- Labels: icon and text, icon only, or grid tiles.
- Hover: what happens when the pointer is over a button, such as lift, zoom or tilt. Pop, spin and wobble are Pro.
- Extras: a glow or an outline. The always-on neon glow is Pro.
Profile box
The card that holds your photo, name and bio. Choose a style (Outline adds a border in your accent colour, and Glass makes it frosted so your background shows through), lower the opacity to let your background through, and pick a hover effect.
Badges, photo and text
Badges
Badges sit beside your name. You can show each badge in its own colour or all in one colour, and choose how they move when the pointer is over them. Spin, wobble and the neon glow are Pro. Pro pages get a Pro badge.
Profile photo
- Position: centred, or perched on the corner of the profile box with your name beside it.
- Spotlight: a soft glow behind your photo.
- Animation: orbit ring, spin ring, pulse, glow or float.
- Decoration: a little extra on top of your photo. The Christmas hat, pumpkin and Easter eggs are free, and the others are Pro.
The photo itself is set under Profile & links.
Display name and bio effects
Your name and bio each have their own settings:
- Colour and font. 3 fonts are free and Pro unlocks all 9.
- Base effect, such as a gradient or a glitch. 3 are free and 8 come with Pro.
- Overlay (Pro): an animated layer on top of the base effect.
- Toggles that stack on top: fade in and out (free), and typewriter and neon glow (Pro).
Page details and messages
- Location: an optional line of up to 30 characters, such as a city, country or timezone, shown with a pin icon.
- Page stats: show or hide your view count, and your page number (the lower it is, the earlier you joined). Hidden views are still counted for you in the portal.
- Page popup (Pro): a short message, with a title of up to 80 characters and text of up to 300, that slides in for 10 seconds when someone opens your page. It's good for a new release or an announcement. You can give it a start and end date so it switches itself on and off.
- DaLinkz promo: the small "Make your own" box that slides up on your page. On free pages it shows after 5 seconds. Pro pushes it back to 30 seconds or turns it off.
Tab, pointer and sound
- Cursor trail (free): an effect that follows the visitor's mouse, such as glitter, sparkle, ember or ripple.
- Custom cursor (Pro): your own .png or .gif in place of the mouse pointer, up to 128×128px.
- Custom favicon (Pro): your own icon in the browser tab, plus an optional animated tab title.
- Background music (Pro): an .mp3 that plays after the visitor clicks to enter. See background music.
Tips for a great-looking page
- Readability first. On a busy background, raise the button and profile-box opacity or use the Glass style so your links stay easy to read.
- Pick one star. One strong effect usually looks better than five fighting each other.
- Check on your phone. Most visitors arrive from a phone, so open your live page there before you share it.
- Motion is optional for visitors. People who've turned on "reduce motion" on their device see a calmer version of your page. That's on purpose, not a bug.
- If Pro runs out, Pro-only choices go back to their free defaults on your page, but they're saved. They return as soon as Pro is active again.
