Documentation / Profile & links
Profile & links
The Profile & links section of the portal holds what your page says: your name, bio, photo, social handles and custom buttons. A preview beside the editor updates as you go.
Name, bio and photo
| Field | Limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Display name | 30 characters | The big heading on your page. Leave the Sharing title blank and it's used for your link preview too. |
| Bio | 160 characters | A line or two about you. Leave it blank to hide it. |
| Profile photo | A link to an image | .png or .jpg, or an animated .gif on Pro. Leave it blank to show your first initial instead. |
The name and bio fonts, colours and effects are set under Appearance. See the appearance tour.
Your photo is a link to an image hosted somewhere else, not an upload. Images, video & music explains what kind of link works and where to keep the file.
Social handles
Handles are the quickest way to link your accounts. Pick the platform, type your handle, and DaLinkz builds the right link and adds the platform's icon.
- You can add up to 20 handles, on any plan.
- Type the handle without the
@. Handles can be up to 60 letters, numbers, dots, dashes or underscores. - For a Discord server, you can paste the whole invite link and DaLinkz picks out the code.
- There's also an Email option, which takes an email address instead of a handle.
- Can't find a platform? Ask for it in our Discord. In the meantime a custom button (Pro) can link anywhere.
Custom text and icon (Pro)
On Pro, each handle can have its own text, up to 40 characters, in place of the platform name. It can also have its own icon image (.png, .jpg or .gif) in place of the platform logo.
Custom buttons (Pro)
Custom buttons link to any web address: your shop, a new release, a booking page, a tip jar. You can add up to 20. Each one has:
- Type, such as Website, Store, Blog, Newsletter, Portfolio, Booking, Donate, Tip jar, Music, Podcast, Video or Merch. The type sets the icon, and its name is used if you don't add your own text.
- URL, where the button goes.
- Button text, up to 40 characters.
- Image (optional). A small image, 128×128px or less, replaces the icon. A bigger image turns the button into a picture card.
If Pro runs out, your custom buttons are kept but hidden from your page. They come back as soon as Pro is active again.
Section headings (Pro)
Headings split your custom buttons into groups, such as "Music", "Shop" or "Socials". Each heading titles the buttons below it, up to the next heading. You can add up to 10, and they don't count towards your 20 buttons.
On the Stage card layout, your button sections sit in cards either side of your profile.
Ordering and hiding links
- Reorder handles, buttons and headings with the arrows on each row. Your page shows them in the same order.
- Hide a link to take it off your page without deleting it. It stays in the editor, faded, so you can show it again later. This is handy for links you only need now and then.
- Edit a row by opening it. Changes save without reloading the page.
